Important Steps In Helping Maintain a Healthy Lawn

De-thatching
  • Thatch is the layer of living and dead organic material that lies between the soils surface and the green blades of grass.

  • While a small amount of thatch is useful to help prevent weed germination and water evaporation, once it reaches more than 1/2' thick it can become a problem.

  • Not only can it begin to keep air, water and nutrients from getting into the soil, it also becomes a safe haven for pests and fungus.

  • De-thatching your lawn removes the excess thatch which then allows the nutrients, air and water in, essentially promoting thicker lawn growth.

Core Aeration
  •  Lawn's can suffer damage from natural wear and tear. The soil becomes compacted making it hard for grass roots to expand.

  • Compacted soil makes it hard for water and fertilizer to seep down to the roots.

  • Compacted soil also makes it more difficult for thatch to decompose causing it to accumulate more quickly on your lawn.

  • Core aeration is the process where plugs of soil are removed from your lawn giving space for roots to spread as well as water and nutrients to make their way in. The plugs are left on the lawn to decompose and release nutrients back into the soil.

Lawn Overseeding
  • If you have areas in your lawn that are turning brown or getting thin, Overseeding may be the solution.

  • Common problems may be drought, insects, high traffic areas or compacted soils.

  • Bare patches of soil in your lawn can quickly fill up with broadleaf and grassy weeds.

  • Overseeding can fill in problem areas and rejuvenate a tired lawn. Overseeding is often done in conjunction with aeration.

Fertilizer & Weed Control
  • To keep your lawn green, growing and looking it's best a regular fertilization program is important.

  •  A healthy lawn is better able to resist weeds, insects and disease.

  •  Weed control discourages dandelions, thistles, creeping charlies and more. Coupled with fertilizer grass is encouraged to fill in now weed free areas achieving a thicker lawn.
  • We have multiple lawn programs available. We are sure we have one to fit your needs and budget!

Deep Root Tree & Shrub Fertilizer
  • Just as your lawn needs nutrients to thrive, so do trees and shrubs.

  • Often, we overlook our trees and shrubs even though they are the most expensive plants in our landscape.

  • Benefits of proper feeding of ornamentals can include better flowering and increased resistance to diseases. This fertilizer is a liquid delivered directly to the root system via a special hose and tube attachment pushed into the ground at the correct depth.  Deep root fertilizer is a great way to protect your investment.

Perimeter Insect Control

  • Perimeter insect control is done three times per season, spring, summer and fall.  It is applied to the perimeter of the home at the same time as a lawn application.  It works great for spiders, ants, and other insects.
